Finding the Perfect Favor and Keeping it Simple
What is a Baby Shower Party Favor? Favors are optional but add a very nice touch to the festivities. A favor is a small token gift to say thank you to the guests for coming to the shower and for helping make it special for the mother-to-be. It’s nice if the gift is something they can use and it should remind them of the baby shower in some way. In most cases, they are rather inexpensive and can even be handmade favors. The type of favors should be defined by the type of shower you are throwing. A shower can be formal or informal but the baby shower party favor should compliment the theme.
What is a Suitable Baby Shower Party Favor? As mentioned above, it’s great if the gift you give is something that will be useful to the receiver. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A baby shower favor can be related to the baby’s nursery theme. For example, if the mother-to-be has a princess theme for her little girl’s nursery then you could give costume rings as party favors. Or if the nursery theme is Winnie-the-Pooh you could give small stuffed bears. You can do this with virtually any type of theme there may be. Other possibilities are tea lights, incense, baby powder in cute little jars, pastel colored candies, or travel sized baby lotion, which can be a great hand cream for someone’s purse.
How to Make it Memorable. To add a more personable and memorable touch you could find a way to include the mother-to-be or the baby’s name (if you already know it) on the favor or create a tag for it. Then, add the date of the baby shower and the type of party that it was. Personalized tags can easily be made on your home computer or by hand. This is an excellent way to ensure the guests will remember the party for a long time. It’s also a great keepsake for the mother.
Other Ideas for a Baby Shower Party Favor. If you are planning on having a few games at the shower you could double the prizes for the games as the favors to take home. Have at least one big group game to make sure that everyone gets something to take home. The favors don’t have to be serious; they could be cute or funny such as candies in the shape of baby bottles or little wooden cars if it’s a little boy being welcomed to the world. There is no set of rules for what you can and cannot do for favors and sometimes the best resource of all is your own imagination. Remember the favor you choose is a thank you and a keepsake.
